The anticipation surrounding Blur’s reunion shows continues to grow, with guitarist Graham Coxon offering a few tips about the proposed set lists at the huge outdoor concerts. Coxon has been a busy man of late, and clearly has a lot more on his mind other than the Blur shows. He has been performing with former Libertines frontman Pete Doherty, and has a new solo album, The Spinning Top, set for release in May.
“We’re pretty much there now,” says Coxon of the Blur reunion. “If we needed to go on stage tomorrow we could — the show would be a mess but I quite like it like that. We all know the words now — we just need to learn to play the songs a bit better. We’ll play for about two hours and do all the old favorites like ‘Country House’ and ‘Parklife.’”
Surprisingly, Coxon has also advocated the performance of tracks from the Think Tank album, which was mostly recorded after he departed the band. It’s unlikely that many fans will be clamoring for tracks from the album, but Coxon remains unrepentant. “I specifically told the band that we should play Think Tank,” he says. “I was very keen on that.”
