Government Issue To Reunite for Benefit Show In DC

Brooklyn Vegan is reporting that the defunct Washington, D.C. 1980s hardcore band Government Issue will reunite for a benefit show come December. The group, which brought a satirical edge to D.C.'s rather serious hardcore scene, is getting together to help out DJ Stereo Faith. Faith, whose real name is Steven McPherson, is formerly of the defunct D.C. band Brace and is now recovering from the removal of a tumor from his auditory canal.

The show will take place Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Black Cat. The Goons and Set to Explode are set to open. Followers of the D.C. music scene will recall that Government Issue's lead vocalist, John Stabb, was himself the recipient of a benefit show back in 2007, when he had to have facial reconstructive surgery after an attack by thugs outside his apartment. Most of Government Issue came together for that gig, but the upcoming show will mark their first full-fledged reunion in 21 years.
