Goth Barbie: Yes, Mattel went there

It's Black Friday. Despite the economy being as it is, some of you are surely out there buying all kinds of Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa gifts.

As you peruse the merchandise, there are certain products that will surely make you pause and ask, "Why? What on earth went on in that boardroom meeting that would make people think this was a good idea?"

Goth Barbie is one of those products. And yes, she comes with a corset and fingerless gloves.

I suppose this doll is not meant for the children. When I was of Barbie doll-playing age, I certainly did not know much about Goths, despite a familiarity with a Bauhaus song or two heard on the radio.

I can't imagine that it is meant for actual "Goths" either, as I don't see them rushing to the store to buy this thing. Especially as it's on sale at the Hard Rock Rock Shop store for a whopping $70, an expensive gag to say the least. [Idolator]

@Steve L
Goth jumped the shark when it stopped being a DYI movement of artists who firmly denied being goth.

More to the point: Did Barbie jump the shark?

Yes!!! She is Punk and I think the point is that beautiful isn't always pink and pretty. It's about time the doll came out.
