Gorillaz "Stylo" Video Breaks YouTube Record

The video for “Stylo” by Gorillaz debuted on March 1 and is already looking like it might become one of the biggest music clips in the site’s short history. The track racked up 900,000 plays within its first 24 hours on YouTube, which beats out records previously held by U2 and Weezer.

We can’t show you the video here on Prefix, you’ll have to head over to the actual site to watch it, but it’s currently edging toward the 2 million views mark. That’s far short of some of the heavy hitters in the YouTube music world—Susan Boyle reached 186,000,000 in less than a month for “I Dreamed A Dream”—but it’s early days yet for “Stylo.”

Cool stat. Any bets about it overtaking Susan Boyle's number?

Hopefully. I watched it a few times back to back myself, come to think of it. It's got a cool "Vanishing Point" vibe about it. That's one of my favorite movies.

I don't think it'll come close to beating out Susan Boyle, but that's a great start.

It's weird that Gorillaz still exist. They seem like such a remnant of the "Oh wow the anonymity of 'web 2.0'" to still be a relevant thing.
