The Converse series Three Artists, One Song memorably produced an unlikely collaboration between Kid Cudi, Best Coast and Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend back in 2010. Now comes news of another meeting of minds that is even more intriguing, with Converse announcing that Gorillaz, Andre 3000 and James Murphy have teamed up to record a song.
“DoYaThing” will be available from Feb. 23 on the Converse website, with a 12-minute long explicit version planned for release at a later date. According to Brit tabloid The Sun, Damon Albarn raps a couple of verses on the track, and there a video directed by Jamie Hewlett featuring “a baboon in a martial arts outfit and a masked topless bloke.”
Murphy sings the chorus according to the Sun’s report, in what will be his most high profile post-LCD Soundsystem activity to date. Naturally, Converse is fully cashing in on this collaboration—a shoe designed by Hewlett for the company is also going to be made available.
