Godspeed You! Black Emperor Playing California Shows

The Godspeed You! Black Emperor reunion continues apace with the news that the band will be performing a set of California shows in the New Year. The legendary post-rock outfit has played a number of concerts since getting back together—notably a few high profile ATP appearances—and speculation will no doubt mount that they will debut new material at these forthcoming shows.

The set of dates announced so far include five nights at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco and one at the Fenwood Resort in Big Sur. Godspeed would be one of the most unlikely additions to Coachella in the history of that event, but these dates are right around the time that the festival usually takes place. It will be interesting to see how their hardcore fanbase reacts if the band does journey out to the desert to play the event in 2012.
