Heavy Metal revivalists Goat Horn have announced a schism within their ranks. According to a June 14th press release, Brandon Wars and Jason Decay will no longer carry on as GOAT HORN. In the decidedly frank announcement, the Canadians explain, after years of working together the obstacles in our path to our goals has [sic] brought everything to a stand still. Instead of working together with the constant frustrations, a decision has been made and Jason Decay and Brandon Wars [guitar] have gone their separate ways.
Although the unabashedly outdated thrash metal band played their last gig in Montreal on June 3rd, fans can look forward to more music from its former members. According to the statement, Decay along with Goat Horn drummer Al Biddle will continue down the Goat Horn path as Cauldron once a new guitar player is enlisted. Continually thanking the fans, Decay laments, I personally feel terrible about what has happened and I am very sorry to every loyal individual of our legion. I never wanted to let anyone down and hopefully this never happens again.
Formed in late 1999, Goat Horn preceded the recent resurgence in thrash metal by nearly half a decade. Reviving the thought-to-be extinct genre proved difficult though, as Goat Horn failed to make much of a dent in the U.S. The recent success of bands like Early Man and The Sword are thanks in some small part to Goat Horn, who despite their critics, never wavered in the face of adversity.
