We previously reported that Scottish rockers Glasvegas were undertaking their first world tour in 2009, but even veteran crystal-ball gazers like us could never have predicted how that tour would fare in the US. As you may know, Glasvegas are purveyors of a widescreen, big-guitar sound that harks back to what folks used to call "The Big Music" back in ye olde '80s when the likes of the The Waterboys, Big Country, and U2 were busy making arena-sized rock cool again. While that sort of thing was considered hunky dory in the States back in the Reagan era, the last couple of decades have not been particularly kind to big-sounding Britpop types in the US (Oasis who?). So it's all the more surprising that a new band laden with UK press plaudits, who were still an opening act for Echo & the Bunnymen just months ago, would be selling out the US portion of their tour. But that's just what's been happening, and we're not talking Nowheresville, North Bumbershoot, either. Thus far, Glasvegas has sold out shows in New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Who knows what else will happen before the dust clears? Between this and the impending new Franz Ferdinand album, could we be in store for a Scottish Invasion?

I can see why, their live show is great. And for the record, I can't get "Geraldine" out of my head.
