Glastonbury 2009 ticket sales get the Jay-Z bump

It seems that despite all the controversy surrounding his appearance (or perhaps because of it), Jay-Z may have been the best thing to ever happen to the Glastonbury Festival. After middling sales of tickets to this year’s fest, the sales are already on the upswing after Jay-Z’s widely praised performance in June. Glastonbury spokesman Jon Shearlaw recently told the BBC that half of the tickets for the Glastonbury 2009 festival  were bought when they first went on sale Sunday.

It’s unclear how many of those purchases were from resellers, and it may not be all that out of the ordinary from ticket sales for major rock fests. But that still doesn’t take away from all the positives that came out of this year’s fest, despite all the negatives that went into it.
