After the turmoil surrounding Jay-Z's appearance at this year's Glastonbury Festival, combined with low ticket sales, you'd expect some changes to be in order for one of the world's largest rock fests. Glastonbury founder and organizer Michael Eavis recently mentioned that the fest would choose a more traditional headliner next year—and that Jay-Z won't be invited back.
The issue seems to be more financial than based on any values of the fest itself. Eavis was "scared" by sagging ticket sales this year, though the fest managed to sell out just barely in time. It's unclear how much the poor ticket sales were caused by Jay-Z or by increment weather, but either way this move is to be expected. By no means does choosing a more traditional band mark a step backwards for the fest.
