Get ready to shorten your attention spans. Girl Talk (a.k.a. Greg Gillis) is set to release his next full-length, Feed the Animals. Gillis will "pull a Radiohead" (how quickly has that phrase become banal?) and make the album available through the web site of his label, Illegal Art, on a pay what you will basis for a period of time. Feed the Animals should be available in physical form later this year. Gillis says the album is more smooth and polished than 2006's off-the-cuff Night Rippers, and uses more "in-your-face" classics as source material. Gillis explains crafting the album this way: "I worked very hard to make it sound like I didn't work hard." Replace the word "sound" with "look" in that sentence and you have a good description of the appearance of many a hipster who goes to a Girl Talk concert. [Billboard]
