Gigwise names the 30 coolest guitars in rock

Those venerated makers of ridiculous lists at Gigwise, have taken on the arduous task of making a list of the 30 coolest guitars in rock.

The list is full of absurd double and triple neck monstrosities; like Michael Angelo Batio’s twin neck that is shaped like a massive V and his four-necked X guitar, Cheap Trick’s five-neck guitar, and John Paul Jones’ bass, guitar, and mandolin mash-up. Some of the picks are slightly suspect (like what’s so special about the guitar that the guy from Muse plays, besides the fact that he’s British?), but all of the classics are here (Prince’s symbol guitar, Jimmy Page’s double-neck from The Song Remains the Same, and Eddie Van Halen’s “Frankenstrat”). My favorite is Bootsy Collins’ Ed Roman bass that’s shaped like a star (pictured here).

Make your own picks by checking out the list Gigwise.

You can't beat Bo Diddley's rectangle guitar.
