Giant Drag possibly done as a duo

Stereogum reports an e-mail from a reader saying Annie Hardy and Micah Calabrese of Giant Drag have parted ways. Further evidence comes from the band's MySpace page, where Annie doesn't claim Micah is in the band any more. For concerned fans, Stereogum acknowledges these spats and splits have happened before. Silly girl, silly boy! Can't you two just get along?
Time will tell what the future holds. The band already seems to have flashed in the proverbial pan already. "This Isn't It" was a good song. But I found following it up by sending their cover of "Wicked Game" to radio to be a really stupid move. That just screamed "we don't have any other good songs of our own."

That saddens me, but it doesn't surprise me. Giant Drag have broken up in the past and reformed. I also wouldn't blame "Wicked Game" entirely on them. I think the ordering of singles is largely a label thing. I would've picked "Kevin is Gay," personally. I think they were pushed a little too hard too fast, but they were better than all the new Austrailian and Canadian bands combined.
