The woes of George Michael continued today in England as he appeared in court following his arrest last month for crashing into a photography store named Snappy Snaps in London. The former Wham! singer was charged with cannabis possession and driving under the influence of drugs after the incident.
Michael appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court, where he plead guilty to the offences, and now awaits sentencing at a later date. Fans and acquaintances of the star will no doubt be relieved to hear that his car keys have been taken away, albeit temporarily—he was served with a six-month interim driving ban in court.
"I make it clear the options in respect of sentence remain open, including the power to imprison,” warned district judge Robin McPhee. "It is a serious matter. Your driving was extremely poor and there was an accident. There is also a conviction from three years ago." Michael returns to court on Sept. 14 for sentencing, and it looks like this McPhee guy means business.
