Geologist From Animal Collective Talks About 'Fall Be Kind'

The members of Animal Collective have been doing a little press around the release of new EP Fall Be Kind, and Geologist (a.k.a. Brian Weitz) talked to New York magazine about the release. “What Do I Want? Sky” from the EP sampled the Grateful Dead, and Weitz has clearly been learning a few things from the band.

“They didn’t have successful marriages, and there were problems with drugs and alcoholism and stuff,” he warns, when asked if he hopes Animal Collective will last as long as the Dead. He also points to their DIY way of putting on shows and standing up to ticket agencies, saying: “They were punk before punk existed.”

Weitz also mentions how he felt when his own fans went looking for his wedding photographs online. “Let’s just say that didn’t make me super comfortable,” he says of his interactions with a small set of fans on the http://animalcollective.org/ site. Fall Be Kind is available now in digital formats.

Shouldn't Geologist want ground?

Thank you, I'm here all night!

That'd be "What Would I Want? Sky".
