Before and after gallery reminds us that drugs are bad, mmmmmmkay

In case you were bored and about to head out for some drugs, Gigwise would like to remind you that in addition to endangering your health and your bank account, drugs can take a huge toll on…your skin and waist line. The gallery, which purports to show the ravages, of drugs, includes pictures of artists like Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse who have taken legitimate hits in the looks department because of drugs. More often, though, the “effects” of the drug binges (Courtney Love, Britney Spears, Elvis, etc.) are bad skin and bloating. While nobody wants to go around looking pasty and chubby, equating the effects of hard drugs with a steady diet of Ding-Dongs isn’t the best deterrent. The award for biggest head-scratcher, though, has to go to the Kurt Cobain entry, where the singer’s addiction seemingly led to the appearance of gobs of eyeliner around his eyes. Truly, this use of cosmetics is something to make us think. [Gigwise]

Syd Barrett's before and after is profoundly disturbing. Some of these 'before & after's' should be made into posters in drug rehabilitation centers. Seriously, Winehouse's alone makes me want to live the rest of my life on vegetables, grains, and aquafina. She looks like a crawler from the Descent!

Poor Syd Barrett... drugs severely crippled his talent after briefly enlightening it. Two solo albums was not enough. Moderation, people.
Amy Winehouse is incredibly sad as well. One of the few charting stars that actually has talent and she's smoking crack, of all the drugs to choose. Her boyfriend is mostly to blame, and she's hopelessly addicted to him more than anything else. What a scumbag loser that dork is.
I like how they call Keane "musical bedwetters". That's rad. Happy to see Justin "No Balls" Hawkins made the list too. However, most of the pics show the effects of aging more than drugs. Keith Richards is a bad choice, since by Syd's standard, he should have been in hiding 20 years ago, and Ozzy only works when you hear him talk. Regardless, it's a good idea for an article that should be reinvestigated often.
