Fucked Up "Do They Know It's Christmas" Released On ITunes Today

It's been a long time coming. The gestating version of the all-star 1984 Christmas jam "Do They Know It's Christmas," which Canadian punk band Fucked Up put all their Polaris Prize money into making, is available now on iTunes. The dollar you spend on the song will go toward three different nonprofit charity organizations. And it's totally worth it for the sheer novelty factor of hearing the following random assortment of people on the same track: Ezra Koenig, Kyp Malone, Kevin Drew, David Cross, Yo La Tengo, Bob Mould, Tegan and Sara, and, in an inspired choice, GZA (who supposedly recorded over an hour of material, only a minute of which was usable).

Although Fucked Up has a reputation for making up collaborators, this one is all too real and bizarre. You can buy the song from iTunes here, or wait till February, when the song will be released by Matador on a physical 7-inch along with an unreleased B-side. [Pitchfork]
