Mashable compiles list of free, legal music download sites

Contrary to popular belief, there are many guilt-free and law-abiding websites where you can download music for free. You just have to find the right place, and have the right kind of musc in mind. Mashable, one of the premiere search marketing blogs, has a list of 30 (count 'em) sites where free and legal music can be downloaded.

True, some (such as Amazon and MP3.com) require a fee for most music. Others, such as IMEEM and Garageband, can easily be manipulated to upload tracks illegally. But there are also some hidden gems, such as the ad-based SpiralFrog.com, and Ruckus.com, which requires a .edu email address and a yearly renewal of DRM. This is the kind of list we should be seeing more of on the internet, one that provides utility instead of screaming matches.

It's amazing how many ways you can get music for free nowadays. With that said sometimes it's just easier to buy an album.

I've been in love with Amazon.com MP3 downloads. Entire albums in less than 60 seconds for like 8 bucks. I'd also like to take a moment to give a big fat middle finger to iTunes.
