The immaculately tailored boys from Franz Ferdinand are road-testing material from their long delayed third album this month. It’s been almost three years since the second Franz album was released, although they’ve periodically surfaced to play festivals, record covers of songs by LCD Soundsystem (“All My Friends”) and Air (“Sexy Boy), and hint at a collaboration with Girls Aloud producers Xenomania.
Franz Ferdinand’s tour begins at the 150-capacity Macbeth pub in London’s East End and continues through some of the smaller venues on the U.K. circuit. Sadly the Xenomania collaboration didn’t work out, so don’t expect the influence of the Sugababes or Kylie Minogue to weigh too heavily on the new material. [NME]
