Frankie Edgar Agrees Move To UFC’s Featherweight Division’s Ariel Helwani reported on Aug. 21 that Frankie Edgar will be moving down to the UFC’s featherweight division and plans to fight before the end of the year.

Helwani (@arielhelwani) tweeted “As reported on @ufctonight, @frankieedgar has officially decided to move to 145 pounds.  He hopes to debut before the end of the year.  Opponent TBD.”

Edgar’s recent loss to Benson Henderson put him at a crossroads in his fighting career, as back-to-back losses to the lightweight champ essentially sealed his fate in the 155-pound ranks.

Moving down to the featherweight division is undoubtedly Edgar’s best chance at another title shot.

While his first opponent in the 145-pound division has yet to be determined, there is a distinct possibility that he’ll take on the the winner of Jose Aldo-Erik Koch, which is slated for Oct. 13.
