‘Frankenweenie’ Soundtrack to Feature Karen O, Robert Smith

The soundtrack to Tim Burton’s upcoming magnum opus Frankenweenie has taken shape. Besides the rather fitting inclusion of Cure mastermind Robert Smith (who contributes a tune called “Witchcraft”), the OST to Burton’s animated film/Frankenstein homage features the likes of Karen O, whose song “Strange Love” will play over Frankenweenie‘s closing credits.

Speaking to Rolling Stone about the track, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman says, “My music inspiration came out of the same era of B-movie fright film references sprinkled throughout the film.” O adds, “I went in the direction of exotica and calypso stylistically because it’s quirky, good vibes music of that era and when you throw in a theremin solo it’s a marriage made in heaven.”

Other notables on the Frankenweenie OST, which will be released on Sept. 25 via Walt Disney Records, include Passion Pit, Grace Potter w/The Flaming Lips and even film co-star Winona Ryder. Full track listing below:
