Frank Black Rules Out Any New Pixies Songs

There’s some contrary information floating around about the possibility of a new Pixies album. The band members reconvened recently to perform more reunion shows, and Black Francis/Frank Black hinted that new material was on the way. Now, the singer has offered a statement that appears to contradict his former musings.

"There isn't really anything to report in that department,” he said, in relation to any new material from the band. "In terms of any new Pixies records, I'm in the dark. We're active insofar as our old repertoire is concerned. We're not active in terms of anything new." Instead, the band will be playing its classic Doolittle album on the upcoming tour.

However, the band members have recorded some new songs since reuniting, although it appears unlikely those will see the light of day. "It was all ostensibly for a submission to a film which shall remain unnamed,” said Black. Pixies’ run of shows in Europe begins on October 1 in Dublin.
