Frances Bean Cobain Sings on New Amanda Palmer Album

Here’s a piece of news that was perhaps inevitable—Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, is about to make her recording debut. These have been strange times for Frances Bean, who has recently become estranged from her mother, and now looks set to begin a career of her own.

Fortunately, her singing debut is suitably subdued. Frances Bean will appear as part of a “gang” of singers on the new album by Dresden Dolls frontwoman (and hyper-active Tweeter) Amanda Palmer. The song featuring Frances Bean also includes contributions from Weird Al Yankovic and Tegan and Sara.

The album is a concept record under the name Evelyn Evelyn, and is apparently based around the lives of two real-life conjoined twins named Lyn and Eva Neville, who “spent their lives trapped in the circus industry.” It’s more likely that these characters have been dreamed up by Palmer and her partner in the band, Jason Webley, and with a concept like that, it seems unlikely that people will be clamoring to hear Frances Bean’s debut when the record is released at the end of March.
