Foxygen Shares New Single, “Shuggie,” Off Upcoming LP, ‘We Are The Ambassadors Of Peace & Magic’

Sam France and Jonathan Rado are prodigies. Both barely of drinking age, the duo known as Foxygen creates intricate, psychedelic off-kilter pop with a soul much older than their physical ages.

The two-piece got its start by handing off a burned CD-R to producer/singer-songwriter Richard Swift without knowing if he’d ever even give it a listen. Now, a mere year and a half later the boys have a stellar debut, Take The Kids Off Broadway, and awe-inspiring live show under their belts, as well as a Sophomore release, We Are The 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace & Magic, set for a January 22 release via Jagjaguwar.

Today, Foxygen shares, “Shuggie,” the first single off its upcoming album. The track sounds like it was recorded in the ’60s, as sharp guitar riffs and funky bass lines direct the path for France’s reverbed vocals as he sings of haunted parlors and rhinoceros-shaped earrings.

Foxygen is gearing up to play at the CMJ Festival before embarking on a tour with of Montreal. Check out tour dates and listen to “Shuggie” below.
