Former Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri was arrested last month following a standoff with Los Angeles police and a SWAT team. Now it seems that the charges relating to that incident could have severe consequences for Oliveri, who may potentially be looking at a stretch in jail of up to 15 years. It all stems from an incident in his home, where police were called by neighbors following an altercation between Oliveri and his girlfriend. A two-hour standoff reportedly resulted, with the bass player allegedly refusing to allow his girlfriend to leave.
Police found a fully loaded rifle when they searched the Oliveri’s house, and TMZ claims cocaine and methamphetamines were also found at the scene. According to this Exclaim article, the charges now include two counts of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of resisting, obstructing or delaying a police officer. He will serve a maximum of 15 years in prison only if convicted on all counts.
