Former Jayhawks ready for flood of new material

Mark Olson and Gary Louris have never officially closed up shop on the Jayhawks , the band they founded in 1985. Olson left in 1996, but there was always the sense they'd record together again, and that happened in 2007 with the Olson solo record Salvation Blues, which featured a songwriting reunion with Louris.

Now, Hacktone, which issued Salvation, has announced that Olson and Louris will release Ready For the Flood in January 2009 via New West Records. The largely acoustic offering was produced by Chris Robinson (Black Crowes) and will be accompanied by a tour, the initial dates of which are on Olson & Louris's combo MySpace page. [CMJ]
