This week's winner for most ironic pairing of band and label name, L.A.-based Foreign Born have signed to the Secretly Canadian label. The band's first full-length, the initially self-released On the Wing Now, was reissued last year by Dim Mak, but their follow-up, Person to Person, is slated for a Secretly Canadian release in February of 2009. If their first album is anything to judge by, get ready for a kind of Arcade Fire-meets-Fleet Foxes collision of sweeping, dramatic tunes presented with an earthy, organic, acoustic-tinged feel swimming in summery SoCal vibes, plus a little bit of that Animal Collective anything-goes feel that's de rigeur these days for any indie band worth its upper-tier Pitchfork rating.
