Few bands have enjoyed the kind of unadulterated multi-decade success that Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters have cruised down since the mid-90s, but every good thing has a responsibility to wind itself down before it burns away to self-parody. Now, it looks like the Foos might be doing just that.
During their set at the Global Citizen Festival in Central Park last Saturday, Dave Grohl told the 60,000-person crowd that the performance would be his last at the helm of the Foos for the foreseeable future. "Without making a big deal out of it, we don't have any shows after this," said Grohl. "This is it, man. Honestly I don't know when we're gonna do it again...and this is the perfect place to do it."
There's been no official word from the band yet as to whether they're simply taking a break from touring or going their separate ways as musicians, but either way, it seems like Saturday was the last chance fans had to catch the Foo Fighters onstage for a while. [NME]
