Thom Yorke began playing out late last year with a band featuring the likes of Flea, Nigel Godrich, Joey Waronker, and Mauro Refosco. The name of their group soon became Atoms for Peace, which is named after a track off Yorke’s solo debut, The Eraser. Also during that time, Yorke expressed his love for hip-hop, particularly that of underground super-villain MF DOOM. He even went so far as to remix “Gazzillion Ear” off DOOM’s Born Like This.
Apparently, Yorke’s penchant for experimental hip-hop didn’t end there. He will appear on Flying Lotus’s upcoming Cosmogramma record. Yorke also enlisted the Los Angeles producer as the opener for Atoms for Peace for the following tour dates:
04.05 New York City, NY: Roseland Ballroom
04.06 New York City, NY: Roseland Ballroom
04.08 Boston, MA: Citi Wang Theatre
04.10 Chicago, IL: Aragon Ballroom
04.11 Chicago, IL: Aragon Ballroom
04.14 Oakland, CA: Fox Theatre
04.15 Oakland, CA: Fox Theatre
04.17 Santa Barbara, CA: Santa Barbara Bowl
They are also both playing Coachella, with FlyLo’s set on April 17 and Atoms for Peace’s on April 18.
