He'd only just announced it, but Flea has already gone ahead and pulled a Radiohead by making his debut solo EP available as a pay-what-you-will download. The Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist collaborated with Patti Smith on the recording, as well as the Silverlake Conservatory Choir. He emphatically states that it's nothing like a Chili Peppers album, but a "mostly instrumental, weird and arty record."
Head to the Silverlake Conservatory's website to pick up the EP for as little as nothing or as much as you want. All proceeds will benefit the community-based non-profit music school that Flea has been working closely with. You can also pre-order the record on vinyl, which will ship August 10.
