Flaming Lips To Perform 'Dark Side Of The Moon' At Bonnaroo

The lineup for this year's Bonnaroo hasn't been announced yet (that's set to go down on Feb. 9), but the first night's headliner has already been announced: The Flaming Lips have been confirmed to headline June 10. But that's not all; the band will be playing a full Flaming Lips set, followed by a recreation of their full-length cover of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon.

So I guess we're beyond the point of bands performing their own classic albums now? I guess that's a natural progression...

Didn't Phish already go through the phase of covering others' records in full? Isn't that how all the Phish kids started listening to Loaded, back in 1998 or so? I could be mistaken.

Yeah, but the Flaming Lips are more alt.

Phase nothin'; Phish plays a 'musical costume' as a special set each Halloween. Albums played in full to date:

1994: Beatles' White Album
1995: Who's Quadrophenia
1996: Talking Heads' Remain in Light
1998: Velvet Underground's Loaded (and complete DSOTM breakout mid-set 2 days later)
2009: Rolling Stones' Exile on Main St

I have heard a recording of phish's Dark Side cover and it was phucking terrible. I have no doubt that the Lip's version will destroy it with an explosion of furry costumes and the addition that Wayne can actually sing. Nobody in phish can sing worth a crap.
