Flaming Lips’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’ Cover Album To Feature Miley Cyrus, J Mascis, Many More

The Flaming Lips’ previously announced With a Little Help From My Fwends is an all-star, full album cover/tribute to the Beatles’ psychedelic 1967 concept album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and they’ve finally shared a full tracklist with a complete set of special guests, and there are quite a few surprises.

Naturally, Lips frontman Wayne Coyne’s new favorite pop star Miley Cyrus appears on two of the album’s tracks, including “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” which they recently performed together live, but more interesting are the appearances of J. Mascis and My Morning Jacket on “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” Dr. Dog and Cool Kids rapper Chuck Inglish on “Getting Better,” and Tool vocalist Maynard James Keenan on “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!”

As if that wasn’t enough, the album also features Moby, Tegan and Sara, Phantogram, Julianna Barwick, Grace Potter, MGMT, Foxygen, and even more. Check out the whole tracklist here:

With a Little Help From My Fwends is not the first full-album cover of a classic record that The Flaming Lips have embarked on, having released the Pink Floyd-inspired The Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs with Henry Rollins and Peaches Doing The Dark Side of the Moon in 2009.
With a Little Help From My Fwends is out October 28 via Warner Bros., and proceeds raised from the sale of the album go to the Bella Foundation, a non-profit charity dedicated to assisting low-income, elderly or terminally ill pet owners with the cost of veterinary care.
