Flaming Lips Beat All-American Rejects to Have "Do You Realize???" as Oklahoma's State Rock Song

In a stunning upset, The Flaming Lips have had their song, "Do You Realize???" voted as the official rock song of their home state of Oklahoma. The band was up against tight competition--namely teen girl faves the All-American Rejects--but the Lips won after the 21,000 votes were counted. 

The state of Oklahoma already has an official song ("Oklahoma" from the musical, natch), but now The Flaming Lips are the state's official rock representatives. I honestly can't believe the band won. They even beat Elvis Presley (whose "Heartbreak Hotel" was written by an Oklahoman). Unlikely, but pretty cool. [Pitchfork]
