Final Fantasy voted hottest act in Canada

Via: I (heart) Music
I'm a few days late on this, but I thought I'd pass along that, in addition to already winning the inaugural Polaris Music Prize this year, Owen Pallett has also been named the hottest act in Canada, as voted by a selected panel of music writers, bloggers and radio hosts. I'm thrilled that Owen's star is continuing to rise, but I have to ask: what are bands like Arcade Fire doing on the list? I can almost understand Wolf Parade and Broken Social Scene, since they were still touring in support of albums released last year, but Arcade Fire spent most of this year holed up in a Church. I'm as excited to hear the new album as the rest of you, but show some restraint people!
And now that I've gone and ingratiated myself to the panel, I need to ask: where was my invite? I'm Canadian, I'm a music journalist, what gives? I'd appreciate an explanation.

I've got dual citizenship and I play ice hockey. I should have at least gotten half a vote.

Sorry about not inviting you...honestly, I just didn't think to check whether places like Prefix, Pitchfork, etc., had Canadian writers. I only asked the people from Pop Matters and Coke Machine Glow because I'd spoken to them before. E-mail me, and I'll make sure you're asked next year (assuming I do it again next year). And I totally agree about Arcade Fire...
