Fergie Says Kanye Helped Make Rap Gay-Friendly

In the latest issue of The AdvocateFergie speaks what may be the first friendly words about Kanye West since the Taylor Swift debacle, crediting him with making rap gay friendly. "[He] made it very mixed and open," Fergie said, in response to a question to how the rest of the Black-Eyed Peas react to their own gay-friendly fan base.

While agreeing with someone who can't spell "tasty" may seem outlandish, Fergie has a point. In the past Kanye has made public statements about reducing gay slurs in hip-hop music, stated that he takes his fashion inspiration from the gay community, and was scheduled to go on tour with another major act that is publicly gay-friendly, Lady Gaga. While West may not be the first rapper to embrace that demographic, he's certainly the biggest, and it's nice to see that his penchant for speaking without thinking may have done something positive this time around.

Now, if only Aquaman would release a statement saying that West made rap fish-friendly, all the evidence would be there. [MTV]
