Fang Island (And Some Emo Band) The Most-Buzzed Bands From SXSW

The social networking analytics site Next Big Sound has released its findings re: the most buzzed band from SXSW, and the results are sort of surprising. The website created two lists: One that counts down the top ten bands who had the fastest “growth” in online fandom via Facebook, MySpace, etc., and another list of bands that picked up the most amount of fans during the fest.

Highly buzzed (and Pitchfork-lauded) Fang Island topped the first list, experiencing a booming growth in fans during four days of the fest. Also on that list are Antlers, Phantogram, and curiously, GZA, who apparently picked up a bunch of fans for performing down there. Apparently the typical SXSW denizen has never heard Liquid Swords before.

The second list was topped by NeverShoutNever, an emo band that basically annihilated the competition (their line graph is the John Holmes of line graphs). The xx, Broken Bells, Wale, and uh, Sum 41 also picked up large amounts of fans during the fest. Go here for more indepth charts.
