Explosions in the Sky will play a smattering of cities this summer to celebrate its ten-year anniversary since its first performance—an employee talent show for a polling company—in 1999. This post-rock band will play a rare show in its hometown with a fellow Austin-bred band of the chilled-out electro variety, the Octopus Project, on July 3. Other special guests include No Age (Los Angeles), Jason Lytle of Grandaddy (New York), Eluvium (Los Angeles), Constantines (New York), and The Wooden Birds (Austin). Explosions in the Sky will then set off to the Toronto Island Festival to play special guest itself to Broken Social Scene on July 11. Given the fireworks at the end of its 2009 SXSW set, we predict showers.
