New Evangelicals album on the way

While the evangelical movement is surely weakened after the debacle of the Bush presidency, the band Evangelicals is going strong. January 22 is the slated release date for the crazy Oklahoman band's sophomore album, The Evening Descends (creepy cover at left). The spastic trio has moved over to newish imprint Dead Oceans after 2006 debut So Gone came out on Misra. Dead Oceans calls The Evening Descends "Oklahoma's answer to Prince's Around the World in a Day, but from the perspective of someone crashing at Pee-Wee's Playhouse who happens to have a chainsaw slowly gnawing through his leg." Wow, quite a description.
