Espers/Ghost acid-folk summit

Sounds like there's a psych-folk super session on the way; Masaki Batoh of veteran Japanese psych warriors Ghost and Helena Espvall of U.S. freak-folk champs Espers are set to release a self-titled album as a duo July 22 on Drag City. The album will feature a batch of traditional folk songs from Espvall's native Sweden, "Death Letter Blues" by Son House, a European medieval song, an original tune Batoh originally intended for Damon & Naomi, and some improvisations. The pair employed everything from Tibetan bells to hurdy-gurdy on what promises to be the beardy chill-out album of the year. Batoh and Espvall will be priming the pump on a string of June dates with Damon & Naomi.
