As we reach the halfway point in 2009, it's not such a bad idea to look back and see what we may have left behind. Over at EMusic.com, they've done just that, compiling a list of albums they feel went overlooked so far this year. To their credit, the list is both extensive and pretty eclectic, covering everything from indie rock to hip-hop to world music, and they give much-deserved props to the likes of Kurt Vile, Cotton Jones and Strange Boys. And those picks only cover a sliver of the spectrum.
Sure, you can argue over what is and isn't "overrated." I mean, Kurt Vile did go and get himself signed to Matador. But the list is deep enough to trump that argument. It offers up new recommendations to even the most in-the-know music fan, and branches outside of typically internet-friendly music circles. So head on over there andcheck it out.
Nice list they put together.
