That’s right! The wait is over! Those lovable Midwest emotional complainers of all things girl-related are back with a new album. After disbanding in 2005, the five-piece from Kansas City got back together recently for a slew of reunion shows. Apparently, the response was so over-whelming that they decided to hole up in a studio and churn out 12 more tunes for a fifth LP titled These Are Rules. The album is supposedly a return to their DIY-roots. Primary songwriter Matt Pryor stated that they wanted to “do everything ourselves like we did in the beginning.”
Now if only this will convince The Anniversary, Braid, and The Promise Ring to get back together, I can start pinning red felt-hearts to my flannel shirt again and wear those black-rimmed glasses that aren’t prescription.
These Are Rules is slated for release on Jan. 25th via their own label Quality Hill Records.
Yaaaay! This day is a joyous day.
long live hot topic!
