Over the past decade, California music festival Coachella has grown in stature at a near exponential rate, and become the de facto launch point for the year's summer music festival series. Key moments include early adoption of the Flaming Lips' giant hamster ball and homing Daft Punk's pyramid. This year, it's mainstream acts taking up the "big ass festival news" crown. Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg were already announced as co-headliners of Coachella's third night, but it's been confirmed now that Eminem, Warren G, and Wiz Khalifa will all be making appearances with the SoCal gangsta rap icons for a legitimately star-studded affair. Here's hoping that those guests will be hitting up both this weekend's Coachella and next weekend's. [RS]
UPDATE: We received the following statement from a spokesperson for Warren G.
"Warren G is not announcing that he and Eminem will perform with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg. Warren had no knowledge that any such announcement was being made until after it was posted. Any postings involving him and other artists were made without his knowledge or consent and he is not willing to confirm or deny anyone's involvement in this years Coachella event. We apologize for any confusion that this caused."
