Another day, another (of what seems 400) lawsuit against Lil Wayne and Cash Money for Tha Carter III: EMI has sued Weezy's label for unpaid royalties related to a piece of music it licensed for Tha Carter III. Apparently, EMI sued Cash Money back in 2009 for the same thing, and the label admitted it hadn't been paying, and gave EMI $1.5 million, with more due within a half of a year. Apparently Cash Money never paid that second payment, and EMI is looking for its money. A Cash Money rep said that they will resolve it "amicably," which basically means "we screwed up here."
The big question: Did Cash Money bother looking through royalty payments for anyone on Tha Carter III? It seems like they've been sued by everyone who had any part in its creation. [Billboard]
