So it seems the only one who considers Guns N' Roses to be a dangerous rock band anymore is China. Having over 1 billion people consider you dangerous is nothing to sneeze at. It seems that a state-run paper has seen Chinese Democracy as a dangerous threat to China and an insult to the Chinese way of life. If you think the outrage stems only from the album's title, you'd be almost right. The real insult is the lyrics of the title track:
The record's title track makes a reference to the Falun Gong meditation movement that was banned by China as an "evil cult" and warns "if your Great Wall rocks blame yourself," in an apparent message to the country's authoritarian government.
As the HuffPo article also points out, when Bjork merely uttered the word "Tibet" at a performance in Shanghai, the Chinese government decided to vet foreign performers about as rigorously as the Obama cabinet. There's still no word on whether the album will be made available to China, but reports are already coming in of censorship of online videos and audio streams from Chinese Democracy by the Chinese government. If China clamps down on Chinese Democracy, it may gain more vitality in the Chinese underground than it ever will in the U.S. That's something for Axl Rose to be proud of, at least.
This Slate article is looking at lot more relevant now.

Yeah sure,
This is just ANOTHER perfect example of how when the CCP feels that people are pressuring it for rights, the CCP (unable to provide the people with any rights since the party's survival is pinned on absolute supression) presents the critic as 'antiChina' and this ensures that the Chinese people feel THEY have been ATTACKED and take the side of the CCP as if the the CCP and the people were the same thing (how could that be? The song is about repressing the people), when in reality, this band has criticized the party and definitely not China. It is a total ploy. The same is taught about Tibetans and the same ploys are used in North Korea to make the people feel they are under attack and being saved by their 'Dear Leader'. While other governments (corrupt as they might be) are struggling to balance the economy and the peoples satisfaction, the CCP spends it's time, on the people's money, coming up with these types of ploys to manipulate the people's minds.
