Elvis Presley's Hair Sells For $15,000 at Chicago Auction

An auction for a clump of Elvis Presley’s hair exceeded all expectations at an auction this weekend. The piece of the King’s hair sold for an incredible $15,000 in Chicago, making it one of the most valuable pieces of hair in the world (unless anyone has information to the contrary).

The bizarre auction also included a number of other peculiar items. Want to own a set of used handkerchiefs that saw action during Presley’s live shows? That will set you back a cool $732. Fancy owning a shirt worn by the King, which might have to be drastically altered if it was from his drugs-and-cheesburger phase? That will be $52,000.

Around 200 lots from Presley’s past went under the hammer at the auction, and formerly belonged to super-fan Gary Pepper. It must have been difficult for Pepper to let go of these items—especially the hair—but he’s also considerably richer this morning, as many of the goodies fetched four-figure sums.

Uh, seems like a fair price, I suppose. Question is if the dude is trying to assemble a toupee from dead celebrity hair auctions. Because that would be fabulous.
