Back in the halcyon days of 2007, it was announced that one Elijah Wood, the artist formerly known as Frodo Baggins and the titular good son from The Good Son, would be playing Iggy Pop in a biopic about the godfather of punk. The movie was green lit with hopes that it would be completed by the summer of 2008, but it has still yet to begin production, bringing rumors that the whole thing has been trashed, especially since Iggy got super pissed about it and said "They can wait for me to be dead. Fuck You, I won't do your biopic promo," back in March.
Wood, however, is still sure that the film is a go:
“I think that the [Iggy Pop biopic] project will see the light of day,” Wood told Nylon. “I’m really excited about it, it just scares the sh*t out of me."
At least dude realizes that the project is daunting. I'm just wondering if this even gets made. Iggy lived a life of excess, sure, but what's the narrative arc? It's not like he cleaned up and found god like Johnny Cash and Ray Charles or killed himself like Ian Curtis. The dude just survived by getting off the junk and is still making music. Not exactly ripe for standard biopic treacle. [24 Bit]

Well, the narrative is actually the early years of The Stooges and if I recall, it's told in flashback by Iggy as he's laid up in rehab.
