Elephant 6 Co-Founder And Olivia Tremor Control Member Bill Doss Dead At 43

It's always devastating when someone in the music community dies, and today it saddens me to say we have lost another genius. Bill Doss, a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and audio engineer, has passed at the age of 43.

As a member of Olivia Tremor Control and co-founder of the legendary Elephant 6, Doss was an active member of the Athens, GA music scene for nearly two decades, helping transform '60s-tinged psychedelic pop and paving the way for indie superstars like Animal Collective, The Shins, and Arcade Fire among others.

Though his cause of death is still unknown, OTC's official website posted a photo of Doss along with "1968-2012" and a brief statement: "We are devastated by the loss of our brother Bill Doss. We are at a loss for words." We will continue coverage as more information is released.
