Well, that didn’t take long. UK quartet Electrelaneannounced they would be taking an “indefinite hiatus” in 2007, but here we are four years later and the band is already back together again. Expect that gap between splits and reformations to grow ever slimmer as this decade plays out.
But this is good news at least, as their krautrock influenced post-Stereolab sound has been sorely missed in the intervening years, and the group have left this statement on their website to confirm the reformation:
"This summer we're going to play some festivals, including Field Day in London, and a few gigs. We're still confirming everything, so will be announcing dates soon. It's very exciting for us to be playing together again after more than three years, and we're just sorry that we won't be able to make it to the US this time. At the moment our plan is just to play live this summer, so we hope to see you!"
That’s too bad they won’t be making it to these shores any time soon. Fingers crossed that the UK dates go so well that Electrelane will become a permanent fixture once again.
Nice! They went on hiatus on a strong note, so this is a welcome return.
