In "I guess it's best to go out on top" news, British grrrl-rock band Electrelane will soon shut down and go on that most dreaded of band-status terms, "indefinite hiatus." The band is calling the string of European shows it's currently on Electrelane's "last for the forseeable future." This comes on the heels of Electrelane's album from earlier this year, No Shouts, No Calls, arguably the band's best record to date and one that's seriously contending for the top spot on this writer's year-end best album's list.
The wording in the statement Electrelane posted on its website all sounds very amicable, so maybe (hopefully) the break will be short-lived. For now, lead singer Verity Sussman will continue to pursue her solo project under the moniker Vera November. Some of that material can be heard here.
