Marvel Studios is heading straight from Asgardian action to hard science fiction, as multiple outlets are reporting that Edgar Wright will get his chance to make Ant-Man after the studio finishes filming the Thor sequel. While the feature, to be made from a script from Attack the Block‘s Joe Cornish, could be viewed as simply a place holder until the Avengers can assemble again, Wright’s pure geek sensibilities might lead to an under the radar superhero classic- a movie that celebrates the trippy heritage of Jack Kirby and continues Marvel’s trend of lighter, more accessible fare. The rumored inclusion of both major incarnations of Ant-Man, Hank Pym and Scott Lang, is definitely a step in the right direction. [Indiewire]
